Getaway Escape House in Big Bear

We spent several trips at the cabins (thousands of dollars spent!) and had an upcoming trip scheduled. A family member became seriously ill the day before we were scheduled to arrive. We immediately contacted the cabins to see if we could reschedule. Customer service is extremely poor. You can only submit a ticket on line and it takes some time to get someone to respond. When they finally responded, they were not helpful and said the best we could do was talk to a supervisor. The supervisor took a full day to respond and would not help. We asked if they would even consider refunding the pet deposit- nope! I’m seriously baffled- do they want guests to come spread communicable disease to their other guests?? We will not be back, and we will not refer friends here as we have in the past. Be careful with this company!

Just slept there last night and the place had a broken heater. So my pregnant wife was shivering all night that we had to leave early. There’s no one on site to fix it and said someone would be there the next morning at 9 am which is pointless cause checkout is at 11 am. We ended leaving way before checkout and they only gave us $25 refund for a place we couldn’t sleep in

We had sooo muchhh fun during our stay here! We first got the mountain view room- we loved it so much that we booked forest view room one week after. Both were amazing, and I simply can’t believe this place is only 1.5-2 hrs away from downtown area. They encourage people to put their phones away (even had a lockbox) and connect with nature and with your companion 💕 the room was tiny but well equipped with everything needed. If help is needed, there’s a phone inside the cabin, and you can also text the crew member. Felt really safe 👍

The view is fantastic, perfect for Instagram-worthy photos. However, when it comes to sleeping, it was quite disappointing. The pillows were uncomfortable and left us with neck pain. Additionally, the cabin was excessively stifling throughout the night, making it impossible for my boyfriend and me to get a good night's sleep. We had high expectations for our Christmas celebration stay, and paid $500 for one night here so it was a disappointment.

We needed a getaway so we got one with Getaway House Big Bear. We came in August when there was a hurricane rolling through. We carefully drove up the mountain and loaded all our stuff in the cabin. It was nice, cute, quaint. We were so glad there was a heater/AC unit there to keep us warm during this storm. There were no leaks or anything! The place is quite small for 2 people and a medium dog but we made it work. Can't really complain much since they had a comfortable, decent-sized bed (full size I think), mini fridge, stovetop, sink, and a separate bathroom area. First night, all we did was drink in the cabin since it was a hurricane. We made sure to take OHCap, this new hangover pill to make sure we were alright to hike the next day. It's always great being surrounded by nature. You have two options to choose from...either the forest or mountain view. We opted to pay up for the mountain view--but this is where my slight complaint is. We had a cabin that was like half mountain/half forest. There were other cabins there where the window next to the bed literally looked outward away from the mountain and had great views. We also didn't have hot water the first night we were there so we couldn't shower. They did come quickly the next day to help us out with this and got it fixed quickly. There are many trails nearby so we went on a long hike. Overall, I'd def come back.
